Why choose us?

Nirimba Fields Public School is a Kindergarten to Year 6, Comprehensive, Coed Primary School in Nirimba Fields. We are proud to be part of a strong public education system and welcome students from all backgrounds and cultures.

During our foundation year, staff, students and parents worked together to create a shared vision for our school. This statement describes our school’s shared values and high-level aspirations for ongoing school improvement. It encompasses our commitment to student learning and achievement and highlights our priority of educational excellence.

Our Vision

At Nirimba Fields Public School, we create an engaging, inclusive and nurturing environment that empowers students to be confident and respectful learners, who flourish and succeed.

We are committed to building a school culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, ensuring that everyone grows and belongs in an environment of educational equity and excellence.

Our Identity

Nirimba Fields Public School takes great pride in having worked collaboratively with families and key community members to shape our school identity. Our school colours, crest, motto and uniform elements were carefully developed after extensive community consultation, ensuring that they reflect the values and aspirations of the schools’ students, staff and parents. They foster a strong sense of unity and pride among our students and staff and embody the school's values of excellence, respect, creativity and striving for success.

‘Nirimba’ is the Dharug word for pelican. We are proud to recognise the language of the traditional custodians of the Land, the Dharug people, in both our name and on our crest.  The elements of the school crest encapsulate both the rich history, current journey and local community of Nirimba Fields. Accompanying the uniform and crest is a motto that captures the spirit of Nirimba Fields Public School. This inspiring phrase will serve as a guiding principle for students as they embark on their educational and lifelong journey: Nurture Flourish Persist Succeed.

Our School Colours

Navy represents water and pays homage to the Royal Australian Navy. The Eastern Creek waterway runs adjacent to our school and was a source of life to the local Dharug people for thousands of years. This waterway is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including the inland pelican, a water bird. The land on which our school is built has historical links to the Royal Australian Navy, who commissioned the naval base HMAS Nirimba on this site. Today, we are proud to maintain a strong partnership with the Nirimba Sub Section of the Naval Association of Australia. We also recognise that many members of our local community have migrated across the seas, bringing diversity of different culture to their new homeland.
Light blue represents the sky and the graceful flight of the pelican. It also pays homage to the Royal Australian Air Force and recognises that historically, there was an aerodrome and runways located on the site on which our school now sits. The aerodrome was used to house migrants following WWII and later became a training base for pilots of HMAS Nirimba. We acknowledge the modern migration and movement of people across many lands. We are proud that this has been a place of learning for many people, for many years.
Teal green represents the land of the Cumberland Plains on which our school is built. It also acknowledges that our school is on Dharug land. We recognise this land is a shared space and acknowledge the ancient and contemporary occupants as carers of this country. Our staff and students are committed to practicing environmental sustainability and caring for this land, so that it may be enjoyed by many generations to come. The teal green also represents a new beginning and continual growth for our school community.
‘Nirimba’ means pelican in the Dharug language of the local indigenous people. The pelican is a symbol for focus and persistence, community and teamwork. Pelicans create strong, cooperative bonds and work together for the benefit of the group. These are the characteristics we cultivate as a collaborative learning community.
